Indianapolis Public Schools families can make sure their students’ vaccine records are up-to-date during an upcoming health fair.
IPS and the Marion County Public Health Department will offer free vaccines, sports physicals, lead testing and more during the district’s Last Chance Vaccine and Health Clinic from 1-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Arsenal Technical High School, 1500 E. Michigan St.
The clinic comes as a pivotal time for IPS families. Monday, Oct. 20, is the district’s exclusion date for students who are not up-to-date on vaccines required for school attendance.
That means any student who has not gotten the required shots will be asked to stay home from school until they have provided proof of an appointment, signed up for a vaccine clinic or have a state-approved vaccine exemption on file.
Students who get their vaccines at the Oct. 17 event will be entered to win one of more than a dozen Kroger gift cards. The district plans to distribute 15 cards valued at $100 and three valued at $250.
No appointment is needed to attend. The event will be in the Arsenal Tech cafeteria. Students must be registered on-site to receive a sports physical or vaccine before 6 p.m.
