Indy’s Global Village, a nonprofit organization that celebrates the international community on the city’s west side, announced Sept. 9 on Facebook that all events scheduled for the remainder of the year will be postponed or cancelled.
The post, which has since been taken down, said the reason is “due to having to move from their current location.”
In July, the cultural museum’s executive director, Mark Clark, told Mirror Indy they were facing an uncertain future at their 4233 Lafayette Road building due to rising costs and fewer grants to support their mission.
The Taste the Difference Festival, their annual food and culture festival scheduled for Sept. 12, will now take place Nov. 7. The new location for the festival has not been announced yet.
Since its founding in 2021, Global Village has been known for celebrating a variety of international holidays, such as Lunar New Year, Nowruz and the annual Latino Heritage Exhibit & Celebration.
Clark said more details about the venue’s future will be released soon. Until then, supporters of the organization are encouraged to follow their Facebook page for updates.
