The Indianapolis Public Library (IndyPL) is hosting a gala to commemorate its 36th annual Meet the Artists exhibit from 5:15-10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Central branch location, 40 E. St. Clair St.
The annual Meet the Artists exhibit was created to showcase African-American artists whose works might not otherwise have a chance to appear in front of a large audience. Curated by local artist Anthony Radford, the exhibit features work from over 25 local Black artists in various mediums. Artists include Gary Gee, Tony Styxx, Ana Beverly and the We Are Indy Arts Collaborative, which provided a sculpture for the exhibit.
The gala will include youth art workshops, including a “tech zoo” with interactive gadgets and STEM crafts from Nyla Nova Stemversity, as well as live music from DJism and Trebor Williams and The Warriors gospel choir, a fashion show, poetry readings and a chance to speak with the artists about their work.
The event is free and open to the public. For a full list of events and a schedule, click here.
