Martindale Brightwood residents can get an update on the Metrobloks data center at an upcoming community meeting.

Indy Economic Development, Inc. will host the meeting 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 7 at Frederick Douglass Park, 1616 E. 25th St.

In April, city officials approved a data center project Metrobloks plans to build on a vacant lot near 25th Street and Sherman Drive. Indy Economic Development, a nonprofit that acts as the city’s economic development organization, has negotiated nearly $56 million in tax breaks on property and equipment for Metrobloks. In addition to the $56 million in tax savings for Metrobloks, a potential tenant of the property could save up to $339 million on the purchase of new equipment.

At the community meeting, residents can learn more about the tax incentive package and potential community benefits. Interested attendees can register and submit questions with this form.

The Metropolitan Development Commission is expected to hold a public hearing and vote on the tax abatements at 1 p.m. Oct. 21 at the City-County Building.
