If you’ve been hoping to get a job in a pharmacy, this upcoming training could be for you.
The Nehemiah Project, an eastside employment and training program run by New Direction Church, is offering pharmacy technician training. You can learn more at a free May 14 information session.
Pharmacy technicians dispense, pack and label medications, and help with administrative tasks in pharmacies.
The program will prepare students to take the pharmacy technician certification exam. Classes are offered both in-person and virtually in partnership with Emerge Learning Institute.
According to Emerge director Leslie Hodge, tuition for the class is $3,900, which includes materials and exam fees. Participants may qualify for workforce funding or grants to help cover costs, and you can learn more about those options at the May 14 training.
To be eligible for the training, you must have a valid government-issued photo ID, no criminal background and be at least 18 years old.
You also must have a high school diploma or GED, or be able to submit a letter that you’re currently enrolled and working toward that certification.
