You can test your Spanish language skills in a new summer writing contest.
The contest is being organized by Spanish for Entities, an Indianapolis-based company that provides Spanish lessons to business professionals.
Entries must be original, unpublished works of no more than 1,000 words. Youth ages 9-18 years old and adults are invited to compete in separate categories. There will also be separate sections for native Spanish speakers and those learning the language.
There’s no stated theme for the contest. Writers are encouraged to express their creativity.
Jurors will select a winner for each section of writers. Spanish for Entities anticipates naming its four winners in early August with an award ceremony to follow later that month.
Winners will be invited to read their stories publicly at the awards ceremony. They’ll also receive a $100 cash prize and a surprise. Non-native Spanish speakers will also win a scholarship from Spanish for Entities for a 30-hour Spanish course.
To enter, email your writing to spanish@spanishforentities.com with the subject line “Concurso de Cuentos.” Entries must be submitted by June 30.
