The Indy Arts Council has launched a survey in partnership with INSPIRE Music Collective to learn more about how Indianapolis-based artists are getting paid and how that impacts their education, family life and job opportunities. Some of the questions include:
- How many months have you worked for pay in the last 12 months?
- What is your main reason for NOT being paid for work in the last 12 months?
- Are you currently looking for work that pays?
- In the last 12 months, about how many hours per week on average did you spend on paid artistic or cultural practices?
On Feb. 11, Indy Arts Council hosted its Artist Equity Panel where artists, dancers, musicians and other creatives met to discuss the state of the arts industry in Indianapolis.
The organizations plan to use the survey results to advocate for policies, improve artists’ pay, fund programming and increase pay transparency.
The survey takes 30 minutes to complete and is open until March 31.
