The Wayne Township Trustee’s Office and Fire Department will hold free drive-through carbon monoxide testing July 12-13 at the Speedway Moose Lodge.

The 15-minute testing process will ensure that your vehicle is free of carbon monoxide, an invisible gas that can enter your vehicle through leaks in the exhaust system and knock you out or kill you.

In 2015, Wayne Township resident Savannah Bettis was killed in a car crash after she lost consciousness due to carbon monoxide poisoning. In order to prevent similar tragedies from occurring, the Wayne Township Fire Department began free testing for vehicles a year later.

If you go

The free testing will happen 5-7 p.m. July 12 and 10 a.m. to noon July 13 at the Speedway Moose Lodge, 4917 W. Vermont St.

For more information, call the Wayne Township Fire Department (317) 246-6200 or email them at pubinfo@waynetwp.org.
