Easterseals Crossroads will host a community day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 at Community Alliance of the Far Eastside. The event is free and open to the public.
Easterseals Crossroads is a nonprofit that provides services to people with disabilities.
The event at CAFE will feature information on local social services, free food and children’s activities.
David Dreith, president and CEO of Easterseals Crossroads, said the organization hosts community days throughout the year. He said the events serve as a way to both address the needs of the community, and expose the community to local resources.
“I think traditionally organizations like us who serve people with disabilities, we have addressed the disability, but not necessarily addressed the whole person or the whole household,” Dreith said. “It’s become very important to us in the last three to five years that we begin to be more comprehensive in what we are doing, that we are meeting the people that we serve in the neighborhoods that they live in.”
