Indy residents can get kidney and heart screenings at Falam Baptist Church of Indiana this week.
If you go, health research company Care Access will test a type of cholesterol known as Lp(a). This type of cholesterol is genetic and isn’t usually measured in regular blood tests, but it can show if a person has an elevated risk of heart attack.
You can also have your blood sugar levels and kidney function measured. Some people may be asked if they’d like to participate in future clinical trials. Care Access wants its studies to be representative of the communities that will use the medical treatments, according to its website.
The screenings at the southside church, located at 3740 S. Dearborn St., are free and do not require insurance.
Appointments are available from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 through Saturday, Feb. 15.
Register through the Care Access website or on Eventbrite.
