Savannah Jacob and Abby Jo Elle said their form of activism is art.
The two local ceramicists are co-curating “Respect Your Mother,” an exhibit on climate change in honor of Earth Day. The group exhibition opens 6-9 p.m. April 17 at Patina Gallery.
Over 50 artists will show their work, which includes collages, sculptures and paintings. Most of the work will be for sale.

One of the artists, Kali Holdren, made their own version of a Peruvian water whistle (it’s not for sale.) They said they made it out of clay which was wood fired for about 20 hours.
Jacob and Elle had two rules for interested artists: no artificial intelligence and must be relevant to climate change, activism and the earth.
“The thought behind this show was also to provide a space and community to talk about it,” Elle said. “A lot of us feel alone … like we’re the only ones who care and that’s simply not true. This is a space to connect, educate and breathe.”
If you can’t make it to the opening on Friday, you can schedule an appointment to see or purchase artwork by emailing hellopatinagallery@gmail.com. “Respect Your Mother” closes April 28.
