You can get free school supplies and celebrate the start of a new school year at the Indianapolis Urban League’s annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway & Block Party.

Families who bring their children can pick up free backpacks filled with school supplies while supplies last. There will also be free health screenings, books and haircuts for youth.

Adults can get their blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol checked, and visit with the more than 90 community organizations scheduled to attend.

There will also be live music, face painting, line dancing, an obstacle course and a bounce house.

Parking and admission are free. The block party will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 25 at the Indianapolis Urban League, 777 Indiana Ave.
