This recycling initiative has helped Beech Grove become the first city to receive top-tier status for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management’s Clean Community Program. The state program, which was relaunched in 2021, encourages cities to implement environmental sustainability initiatives.
“City leadership worked earnestly on behalf of their citizens to ensure a community dedicated to environmental stewardship,” IDEM Commissioner Clint Woods said in a July press release. “Being the first municipality to reach this milestone is a significant and well-deserved honor.”
