Beech Grove residents can provide feedback in July about a draft plan that aims to be the “roadmap for the city’s future.”
The city on the south side of Indianapolis, which is home to over 14,000 people, has been working on its Consolidated Economic Development and Redevelopment Plan.
The six-person redevelopment commission is spearheading the initiative along with the Indianapolis-based Rundell Ernstberger Associates consulting team. The process has included a series of workshops in January, where people shared a need for many expansion efforts, many of which were related to housing, businesses and trails.
A previous redevelopment plan was adopted in 2008, according to the city’s website.
A city presentation shows that this could be one of the last times community members can provide feedback on the project before the plan is approved. The proposal must be approved by the city council before the redevelopment commission announces a final adoption in the next few months.
If you go
The public open house to review the redevelopment plan will be from 5-7 p.m. July 24 at the Hornet Park Community Center, 5245 Hornet Ave.
There won’t be a formal presentation. Community members will be able to review information about the redevelopment plan at their own pace, ask questions and provide input.
