BLACK: A Festival of Joy will take place Saturday, July 13 at Taggart Memorial Amphitheatre at Riverside Park, 1856 Burdsal Parkway, 3-9 p.m. The free festival celebrates Black joy, talent and entrepreneurship in Central Indiana with live music, food, art and community networking opportunities.
Grammy-nominated artist BJ The Chicago Kid and up-and-coming musician Austin Dean Ashford are headlining the festival. Indianapolis acts Soul Lounge Band, 4200 Kory, Forgotten Tribe, Goldie & Friends will also perform, as well as the Asante Children’s Theatre.
While enjoying live music, guests can browse through handcrafted goods from various local vendors, take part in a guided yoga and meditation session, visit a family fun zone and try out some of the best Black-owned food trucks in Indianapolis, including Paul’s Kitchen and Good Vegan Bad Vegan.
The third BLACK: A Festival of Joy event is sponsored by GANGGANG, IndyGo, Mirror Indy and The Indianapolis Foundation.
