La Plaza will host three sessions for students to get help filing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

The events will be Feb. 28, March 28 and April 11. In Indiana, high school seniors must fill out the FAFSA or opt out by April 15. That same date is the priority deadline to receive state financial aid.

To attend a La Plaza help session, a student must be a U.S. citizen or a non-citizen with a Social Security number. The event is open to high school seniors and college students, as well as their families.

Experts recommend that students, parents and guardians should create their Federal Student Aid IDs several days before attending a FAFSA help session, because the validation process can take several days. To create your ID online, you will need your name, email, date of birth and Social Security Number, if applicable.

How to register

Only 12 families can attend each La Plaza session, so you must sign up in advance. Call 317-890-3292 to register.

A correction was made on Feb. 27, 2025:  A previous version of this article mischaracterized the nature of the FAFSA requirement.
