Current and prospective Indianapolis college students can speak with financial aid counselors from IU Indianapolis and Ivy Tech on June 10 and June 14 at Ivy Tech’s Indianapolis campus.

This year’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid process has been plagued with issues, even though the federal government was attempting to make it easier to fill out the form. The FAFSA process experienced glitches, crashes and delays. Parents or guardians without Social Security numbers also were blocked from accessing the form for months. That left many students from immigrant families unable to apply for financial aid.

Indiana’s priority deadline for state aid was April 15, but the state still encouraged students to file FAFSA after the deadline, as Indiana has, in past years, awarded state aid after the priority deadline. Students who missed the state deadline may still be eligible for federal assistance, including Pell Grants.

Students and families should come prepared to provide the following information:

  • Federal Student Aid identification number
  • Social Security or immigrant registration number
  • Driver’s license number
  • 2022 federal tax return information
  • 2022 W-2 forms
  • Cash, savings and checking account bank statements
  • Child support from the last calendar year

If you go

The June 10 event will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the June 14 event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Both sessions will be in Ivy Tech’s North Meridian Center, located at 50 W. Fall Creek Parkway
