If your home or property was damaged during Indiana’s severe flooding, you can get help applying for federal assistance at the Broad Ripple Park Family Center Aug. 28 and 29.
The federal government issued a major disaster declaration for Central Indiana’s flooding, which means you can apply for money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA. You can register online for these funds at disasterassistance.gov or call 800-621-3362 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
But if you want to apply in-person and get guidance from experts, FEMA is setting up its mobile registration intake center this weekend. You don’t have to make an appointment or bring any documents to apply. Just show up from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 28-29 at the Broad Ripple Park Family Center, 1426 Broad Ripple Ave. FEMA staff and teams from the state and local emergency management agencies will be there to help you.
This in-person event is only meant for people who are filling out their initial application for FEMA assistance, not for those who have already applied. While you’re there, the emergency management teams can also connect you to Indiana 211 or help you find other resources.
For people in flood-impacted areas, the city has also waived all the fees you would typically have to pay to get permits to do repairs on your home, business or property until Sept. 20.
