Indy families looking for help navigating a new school year can find resources at this year’s We Care Community Festival.
The annual event sponsored by the Indiana Council on Education Students of Color helps connect families to tutoring, mentoring and academic resources.
During the festival, families can hear from experts and community leaders, including keynote speaker Chike Akua, as part of a We Care Education Summit.
This year’s event will have a special focus on helping ensure Black students find academic success.
The festival is free and open to the public. Free services will also be provided for those who register in advance online.
Services include free health screenings, groceries, hair care, diapers and community and mental health support. The festival will also provide a free shoe giveaway for adults and children.
Supplies may be limited, so it’s best to attend early to make the most of community giveaways.
The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 22 at Kingdom Apostolic Ministries Church, 4900 E. 38th St. The education summit will take place in the same location from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 22.
