Want to learn more about how to prepare for college?
High school students and their parents can meet with local and state college representatives at an upcoming conference downtown.
The Center for Leadership Development puts on the annual College Prep Conference & College Fair.
The one-day conference will feature tracks for students, their parents and those interested in pursuing collegiate athletics. Tracks will also feature some guidance specific to underclassmen students and seniors.
For example, ninth through 11th grade students will learn about how to stay on track to graduate high school and prepare for college. Meanwhile, seniors will learn about financial literacy and how to navigate the transition from high school to college.
Student athletes are invited to a special session featuring advice from college and career athletes. And, parents can attend their own sessions focused on how to support their students.
The conference will pay special attention to historically Black colleges and universities. Additionally, students and families can learn about specific schools at the college fair taking place during the conference.
The college conference will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 22 on the second floor of the Indiana Convention Center, 100 S. Capitol Ave.
Tickets are $25 and include breakfast and lunch. Group ticket purchases are available. Individuals must register online by Aug. 14. More information is available on the Center for Leadership Development’s website.
