A rule allowing some Indianapolis residents to not pay permit fees after summer flooding is now in place indefinitely.
Mayor Joe Hogsett first waived building permit fees the week after floods destroyed homes in Ravenswood and other neighborhoods in August.
Hogsett issued an executive order Oct. 30 that indefinitely waives the fees for flood-damaged properties.
The order applies to improvement location permits and floodplain development fees for those in flood-impacted areas. The Department of Business and Neighborhood Services is responsible for determining those areas.
Permits must be submitted through the city’s Accela Citizens Access Portal. You can use this guide to learn more about how to apply for permits.
