An Indianapolis-based ambulance service is offering free emergency medical technician and paramedic training to military veterans.
Trans-Care Ambulance, a statewide ambulance service that operates out of 3820 Rockville Ave. on the west side, announced the launch of Operation:EMS on Jan. 16.
The program will pay tuition and fees for EMT training and paramedic courses and provide on-the-job training and employment opportunities with the ambulance service after certification.
The program is being launched at a time when local officials are complaining about a shortage of EMTs and paramedics in Indianapolis.
“Operation: EMS reflects our deep respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made by members of our military. We are committed to making their transition to civilian life as seamless and supportive as possible while empowering them to build fulfilling careers,” Trans-Care Ambulance CEO Russell Ferrell said in a news release.
The program is open to veterans of all military branches. For more information about Operation: EMS and how to apply, visit the program site.
