If you have an eviction on your record, you may be able to get the case sealed so it doesn’t show up in public searches.

Indiana Justice Project, a nonprofit legal advocacy organization, will host an eviction sealing clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 19 at Indiana Interchurch Center, 1100 W. 42nd St.

In order to qualify to have your eviction sealed, there can’t be an existing judgment that says you owe the landlord money in the case. The eviction also must have been dismissed by the court, decided in your favor, or overturned or vacated on appeal.

An eviction can’t be sealed if the case is still active.

You can find your case online by searching your name or the case number.

The decision to seal an eviction is up to the judge of the court where the case was filed.

At eviction sealing clinics, which are hosted by several legal groups throughout the state, you can talk about the specifics of your case with an attorney.
