Indianapolis Public Schools is seeking support for a districtwide back-to-school supply drive.

The district is asking families to consider picking up extra items when doing their own back-to-school shopping to support others who might be burdened by the cost of school supplies.

IPS is seeking donations of everything from supplies for individual students such as pencil cases and notebooks to shared classroom items such as dry erase markers and disinfectant wipes.

Suggested supplies to donate

For K-12 teachers
  • Hand sanitizer bottles
  • Tissue boxes
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Gallon-size Ziploc bags
  • Quart-size Ziploc bags
  • Dry erase markers
  • Construction paper
  • Chart paper
  • Sticky notes
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Copy paper
  • Highlighters
For elementary school students
  • 24-pack of pencils
  • 12-pack of colored pencils
  • Glue sticks
  • Two-pocket folders
  • Scissors
  • Reusable water bottles

  • Indiana State Museum, 650 W. Washington St.
  • Indianapolis Public Library’s East 38th Street branch, 5420 E. 38th St.
  • IPS’ John Morton Finney Center for Educational Services, 120 E. Walnut St.
