High school students will have the opportunity to try their hand at robotics and earn scholarship money at a free hackathon event July 26.
The event, being held at 16 Tech’s Emerging Manufacturing Collaboration Center, invites students to participate in a series of challenges using autonomous robots. Students will gain exposure to programming and operating systems commonly used in the fields of computing and artificial intelligence.
Indiana University has committed $10,000 in scholarships, and program sponsors will also provide information about other scholarship opportunities, internships and career paths in the technology and defense sectors.
The Applied Research Institute, AI Futures and the U.S. Department of Defense are partnering to put on the event.
Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided throughout the daylong event. All teens need to bring with them is a laptop. The event is free but requires registration in advance. Student’s can reserve their space through the AI Robotics High School Hackathon’s online registration page.
