The IndyGo Service Committee approved the acquisition of properties needed to start building the Blue Line Bus Rapid Transit. It’s a significant step toward expanding public transportation in and around the city.

This project, which would span a 24-mile corridor from Cumberland to the Indianapolis International Airport, is slated to begin in early 2025. Director of Capital Projects Matt Duffy said that 144 parcels of land might “require some sort of acquisition.”
The committee also signed off on the purchase of 23 new fare boxes for city buses, which will cost about $381,409. Officials said the new boxes will make it easier to collect bus fares from riders.
