Dear Indy,
Some of the biggest news of the year dropped yesterday when Mayor Joe Hogsett made a surprise announcement.
Hogsett, who said he met with the commissioner of Major League Soccer this week, says as mayor he will “lead an effort to file an MLS application and pursue a club for the city.”
Without naming anyone in particular, Hogsett said an ownership group is forming and led by a sports executive who has held “leadership roles in MLS and global soccer.”
And he’s eyeing a site near the downtown transit hub.
Meanwhile, just hours before the announcement, the group behind the separate Eleven Park stadium development accused the city of trying to “walk away” from a deal with the city.
So, who deserves a red card?
