Indy middle schoolers can learn what it’s like to be a college student at an upcoming IU Indianapolis summer camp.
Indiana University’s Kids College program is launching this June in Indianapolis. The free program is open to incoming seventh- and eighth-graders, especially 21st Century Scholars or those who would be first-generation college students.
Students will be able to explore careers in nursing, law, art, social work, and technology at the camp. Campers will take field trips to locations like the NCAA Headquarters and the Indiana State Museum while becoming immersed in IU Indy’s campus through activities and meals in the dining hall.
They’ll also participate in an IU college readiness curriculum that aims to educate students about preparing for college and how to apply — and stay eligible for — the 21st Century Scholars program throughout middle and high school.
How to sign up
The two-week camp runs from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 9-20 at IU Indianapolis’ campus. There is no camp on June 19 due to the Juneteenth holiday.
Drop-off is from 7:45-8 a.m. each morning, and pick-up is from 4:30-4:45 daily. You can register for the camp online here.
IU Indianapolis is also looking for volunteers to help with the Kids College program. You can apply online to volunteer.
