Both of our daughters are rebelling against eating their meals.

At breakfast the other day, Riley, our 16 month old, begged to get out of her high chair even though she hadn’t eaten any of her sausage or waffle. Lucy, our 3 ½ year old, was picking slowly at her own waffle while watching the Muffin Babies on my iPad. (It’s the Muppet Babies, but she calls it the Muffin Babies, and it’s adorable so I’m not correcting her.)

So anyway, I let Riley out of her chair and figured she’d just go play. Instead, she walked into the pantry and grabbed two snack bags of Goldfish crackers in her little fists. She walked over to Lucy, handed her a bag and then looked at me, clutching the other bag. She let loose a stream of authentic baby babble that clearly was trying to convey: “Open these up for us, Daddy.”

Can two growing girls survive on Goldfish? I hope so.
