North United Methodist Church will dedicate a Sunday in November to the topic of affordable housing.

The event — “The Front Porch Factor: Let’s Talk Housing” — will feature worship services, a lunch, keynote address and panel discussion about solutions to the affordable housing crisis.

The day will start with a worship service at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 10 at North UMC, 3808 N. Meridian St.

The event is part of North UMC’s Hamilton Series, which brings speakers, seminars and music events to the church.

Services

The Rev. John Edgar will be the guest preacher for two morning worship services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Edgar, author of “A Front Porch for All People,” will be available between services to talk about his book and other work.

Lunch

A luncheon will follow the 11 a.m. worship service. The lunch is free, but a reservation is required.

RSVP to events@northchurchindy.com by Nov. 1.

Keynote address

Fran Quigley, a professor at Indiana University McKinney School of Law, will deliver a keynote speech at 1 p.m.

Quigley directs IU’s Health and Human Rights Clinic, where students represent low-income renters in eviction cases.

Panel discussion

Following the keynote, Quigley and Edgar will join attorney David Bacon for a panel discussion.

Bacon is an attorney at Frost Brown Todd and serves as interim CEO of the Mapleton-Fall Creek Development Corp.
