Learn about different school types serving Indianapolis students during a free forum on the far east side.
Education leaders will meet for a moderated discussion from 6-7:30 p.m. March 11 at the Warren Education & Community Center, 975 N. Post Road.
The conversation will be presented by SmartIndy, a political action committee formed by Republican City-County Councilman Michael-Paul Hart to promote community conversation around areas of city policymaking interest.
The event will give equal time to three speakers to share presentations about their school models and how they serve students in Indianapolis. Speakers include:
- Tim Hanson, superintendent of Warren Township schools — a traditionally run public school district.
- Brandon Brown, CEO of The Mind Trust — an education nonprofit that advocates for policy supporting public charter schools.
- Keeanna Warren, CEO of Purdue Polytechnic High Schools — a network of public charter high schools with two Indianapolis locations.
Hart, who will moderate the discussion, said the event will help families in choosing a school that fits their student’s needs.
Each speaker will be given 20 minutes to present on their school or organization’s role in education. Questions for the speakers can be submitted in advance through the event’s online RSVP page. Hart said questions will not be taken during presentations.
