A program that can help pay your heating bill is taking applications through May 31.

The Winter Assistance Fund is operated by the United Way of Central Indiana. The program is open to Marion County households that make too much money to qualify for the state’s energy program, but are below 225% of the federal poverty level.

Assistance could apply to your AES or Citizens Energy Group bill, depending on how your home is heated. The fund can also be used to help with overdue balances.

As of May 13, the fund still had about $62,400 remaining, according to the United Way. That’s enough money to help roughly 170 households.
