Warren Township schools are inviting families to join the eastside district for a back-to-school celebration.
The evening festival will connect families to dozens of community resources and feature free backpacks and school supplies, food, games and haircuts.
The district will also screen the first three episodes of “Iyanu.” The animated series, carried by Cartoon Network and HBO Max, is inspired by a graphic novel series rooted in African mythology and tells the story of a teen orphan who seeks to fulfill an ancient prophecy.
Organizers say the event aims to help students see themselves represented in animation.
The outdoor event runs from 5-7 p.m. July 17 at the Moorhead Community Resource Center.
School will start for kindergarteners through 9th graders in Warren Township on July 24. High school sophomores through seniors will go back on July 25.
Warren Township schools will offer in-person registration from July 15-18. Check for individual school registration dates and school supply lists on Warren Township’s website.
