The Wayne Township trustee’s office and fire department will offer free drive-through carbon monoxide testing Aug. 17 at the Speedway Moose Lodge.

If you go

When: 10-11 a.m. Aug. 17

Where: Speedway Moose Lodge, 4917 W. Vermont St.

Cost: Free

The 15-minute testing process will ensure that your vehicle is free of carbon monoxide, an invisible gas that can enter your vehicle through leaks in the exhaust system and knock you out or kill you.

In 2015, Wayne Township resident Savannah Bettis was killed in a car crash after she lost consciousness due to carbon monoxide poisoning. To prevent similar tragedies from occurring, the Wayne Township Fire Department began free testing for vehicles a year later.

For more information, contact the Wayne Township Fire Department 317-246-6200 or pubinfo@waynetwp.org.
