Wayne Township schools are kicking off a new program to recognize the people who show up for students.

The new Wayne Way Volunteer Award will recognize the people that parents, staff and community members recognize as difference makers in the westside school district.

Anyone — parents, teachers and students included — can nominate a volunteer by filling out a short form on the district’s website. A review committee will select one to three honorees to be celebrated each month at an upcoming school board meeting.

District leaders say they’re looking for volunteers who go the extra mile, model integrity and trust for students and inspire others to get involved.
