Veterans who are blind or have low vision can get a free pair of Ray-Ban Meta glasses through a two-day training in Indianapolis.

This wearable technology helps people read documents, identify objects and complete daily tasks. The AI glasses can read words in your eye line, verbally describe your surroundings, tell you about the weather and scan QR codes. They can also help people make phone calls or send texts.

Veterans are eligible if they are legally blind or have severe visual impairment that impacts daily life and independent living. It’s part of a national campaign from Meta, which is giving out 130,000 glasses to veterans across the country.

The training will be hosted by Bosma Enterprises, an Indianapolis nonprofit that supports people who are blind or have low vision, and the Blinded Veterans Association. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 10 and Aug. 11, people will receive a pair of glasses and learn how to use them. The training will be held at Bosma Enterprises, 6270 Corporate Drive.

Pre-registration is required to attend. You can RSVP by filling out a form that asks for your contact information, branch of service and eligibility. You must create a Meta account and download the Meta AI app prior to the training.
