You can get a free car seat at a safety clinic on Tuesday, May 19.

The IU School of Medicine is partnering with Ivy Tech and manufacturers to provide free replacements for damaged, expired or unsafe car seats. Pregnant people in the third trimester are also eligible for a free car seat while supplies last.

Car crashes are a leading cause of death and injury in children. There’s more risk when car seats are used incorrectly or not at all. Your seat will be inspected by certified safety technicians, who will make sure it properly protects your child.

The event is first come, first served from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Ivy Tech Parking Lot 9, 108 W. 28th St. Starting at 4 p.m., families can line up in their vehicles, facing eastbound toward West 28th St. Bring your kids and car seats to participate.
