Just in time for summer break, Central Library is celebrating the opening of its new space for kids and teens.

Kid Central and Teen Central are two newly renovated spaces in the Indianapolis Public Library’s downtown branch. Each section is designed to create engaging experiences for youth of different ages.

Children’s materials are now located on the east and west sides of Central Library’s third floor, while teen collections are on the east side of the second floor.

You can check out both of the new spaces at a grand opening June 6 at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair St.

Festivities begin at 10 a.m. and include a ribbon cutting, balloon twisting, face and canvas painting and a teddy bear concert.

Community groups, such as the Center for Black Literature & Culture, the Indiana Sports Corp. and the Indianapolis Public Library Social Work Services, will share information.

Staff will also help kids and adults sign up for the library’s Summer Reading Program.

Patrons are welcome to check out the new spaces through the library’s closing at 5 p.m.
