Indianapolis Public Schools students and their families can get their Free Application for Federal Student Aid questions answered in a series of upcoming events.

The district’s FAFSA Family Filing Nights series begins this week and offers help filling out the form required for many federal grants, work-study funds and loans offered to college students.

The series will provide opportunities across the city leading up to this year’s April 15 filing deadline.

What should I bring for FAFSA help?

District officials say students and their families should bring their Social Security number or immigrant registration number, their 2022 federal tax return, W-2 and other supporting documents.

Families should also bring the login information for their FAFSA account, which can be created on the Federal Student Aid website.

When are the IPS Family Filing Nights?

The nights will take place at the following locations and dates:

  • Arsenal Tech cafeteria: Parents and students are invited to events from 5-7 p.m. on Feb. 7, Feb. 21, March 6, March 20, April 3 and April 10.
  • Crispus Attucks cafeteria: Parents are invited to attend from 5:30-7 p.m. on Jan. 30 and Feb. 29. The high school also will have additional help available during “Parents In Touch Day” from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 22.
  • George Washington media center: Parents are invited to filing nights from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 5 and April 8.

The district also is organizing support on College Goal Sunday, a statewide FAFSA filing day. Students who attend the event, scheduled for 2-4 p.m. Feb. 25 at Arsenal Tech High School, and fill out a form will be eligible to win one of five $1,000 educational prizes.
