Prospective and current college students can receive free, in-person help with their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, at locations across Indianapolis this Sunday, Feb. 25.

College Goal Sunday will run from 2-4 p.m. It is Indiana’s largest FAFSA filing event and is now in its 35th year, according to the website. The free event is even more pertinent this year because of significant delays, glitches and issues with the FAFSA, including that parents without Social Security numbers are completely blocked from accessing the form.

Students who attend College Goal Sunday events and complete an evaluation will also be entered to win one of five $1,000 scholarships statewide, according to the website.

Where to attend College Goal Sunday in Indianapolis

Forty schools and organizations across the state will be offering free help on Sunday, including six schools in Marion County:

  • Arsenal Technical High School, computer lab — 1500 E. Michigan St.
  • Beech Grove High School — 5330 Hornet Ave., Beech Grove
  • George Washington Community High School, door #22 — 2215 W. Washington St.
  • Ivy Tech Community College, North Meridian Center — 50 W. Fall Creek Parkway North Dr.
  • Lawrence North High School — 7802 Hague Road
  • Decatur Central High School — 5251 Kentucky Ave.

What to bring to file your FAFSA

Prior to College Goal Sunday, parents and students should create an FSA ID.

It may take several days for the Social Security Administration to review your identifying information. So if you plan to attend Sunday, it’s best to create your ID as soon as possible.

Other documents and information to bring include:

  • Social Security or immigrant registration number
  • Driver’s license number
  • 2022 federal tax return information
  • 2022 W-2 forms
  • Cash, savings and checking account bank statements
  • Child support received in past calendar year

For more information about what to bring and questions ahead of Sunday’s event, visit College Goal Sunday’s website.
