The Indianapolis Public Library is celebrating 125 years of the Martindale Brightwood branch

The community is invited to a celebration from 2-4:30 p.m. May 30 at the Martindale Brightwood library, 2434 N. Sherman Drive.

The event will feature live music and light refreshments. Branch memorabilia and pictures will be on display. Attendees can also meet with current and former branch staff.

The library first opened in 1901 as the Brightwood Branch. The branch was the sixth public library in Indianapolis. In 2020, the library moved to its current location and was renamed the Martindale Brightwood branch.
