If you want to make your neighborhood safer for pedestrians, fundraise for an event or learn more about why housing in Indy is so expensive, you can start at Neighbor Power Indy.
The Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center, or INRC, puts on the conference every year. This year’s theme is “Many Communities, One City.” The event includes a resource fair, workshops and lunch — all for free. It’s a space where neighborhood leaders can learn from each other’s experiences.
You can choose from a dozen workshops from local organizations, which will go over topics including how to start advocating for causes your community cares about, how to interpret data about your neighborhood, how to write grants, how your neighborhood organization can support your local park and how Indy’s streets can be safer for pedestrians.
This year, the event is Saturday, July 25, at the University of Indianapolis’ Schwitzer Student Center, 1400 Campus Drive. You can show up the morning of the conference and register onsite. You can park in the visitor lot along Campus Drive, the lot next to the Lilly Science Hall or see more parking options online.
