My high school government class wasn’t that many years ago, but there’s still plenty of things I’m learning about politics. I’m not afraid to admit that I wasn’t quite sure what the attorney general’s office does.
So, for first-time voters and others like me, I made a pocket-sized magazine.
It explains how to vote, your rights, what voter intimidation means and what elected officials actually do. Plus, it’s got illustrations in our bright Mirror Indy colors from Nathaniel Russell, an Indianapolis-based artist.
My favorite part is the sticker inside: A super cool dog in sunglasses saying “Heck yes I voted!
Starting Oct. 17, you’ll be able to grab a free copy at 14 branches of the Indianapolis Public Library. Indy Documenters will pass zines out at early voting sites. If you get one, take a selfie with your sticker and send it to me so we can share it on our social media! My email is sophie.young@mirrorindy.org.
