Two organizations are taking nominations to recognize people in Indianapolis trying to improve the lives of their neighbors.
The Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center is taking entries for its Spirit Award, which recognizes efforts of neighborhood associations and grassroots organizations to improve quality of life.
Eligible projects have to have taken place from Jan. 1 to Aug. 17 and should “demonstrate strong resident leadership, community partnerships and sustainability.” Applications are due Aug. 17. Finalists will be asked to submit a video describing the impact of their projects. Winners will receive a cash prize.
Separately, local nonprofit Health by Design is partnering with the Aspen Institute to present the Weaver Awards. The accolades will recognize “20 individuals and groups in Marion County who are building trust, belonging and connection.”
The awards are centered around the idea of “weaving:” fostering relationships that “set the conditions for social trust to grow in communities.”
Each awardee will receive either a $2,500 or $5,000 grant as well as resources to use the grant and implement their project. Individuals and groups with annual budgets below $250,000 are eligible. Additional eligibility requirements and entry details are available on the award website. Nominations are due 11:59 p.m. Aug. 17.
